Transportation and Communities Summit 2017

Transportation and Communities Summit 2017

The Transportation and Communities Summit, TREC’s signature professional development conference, will be held at Smith Memorial Student Union at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon.

The Transportation and Communities Summit connects you with the latest research and innovations in practice, across disciplines and sectors. Whether you work in engineering, planning or policymaking, in the public sector or the private, the summit gives you the knowledge and connections to keep you at the top of your profession. The summit is held in Portland, in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, where you’ll find these innovations in sustainable transportation not just in theory but on the ground in our communities.

The two-day event consists of the main Summit Day on Monday, followed by a day of interactive workshops on Tuesday, September 12. When registering for the conference, you can add the Workshop Day to your registration. You can also register for any workshop a la carte, without registering for the Summit Day. Registration is open now.

TREC is the transportation research and education center at Portland State University.

Keynote: Hannah Ubl

Research Director at BridgeWorks

We're pleased to welcome researcher, writer and generational expert Hannah Ubl as our keynote speaker. Her keynote presentation at the summit will address the challenges and opportunities of a transportation workforce that spans multiple generations, how to recruit and retain millennial talent, and how to motivate and communicate across generations to help the transportation industry thrive and create vibrant communities and workforces for the future.

BridgeWorks has been dedicated solely to the study of generational differences since its inception in 1998. Ubl heads up BridgeWorks’ research initiatives, including delving into the latest trends on Generation Edge, the generation after Millennials. She is the author of "Managing Millenials for Dummies."
