Portland Art Museum's Miller Family Free Day: Exploring Architecture, Building Community

PSU School of Architecture is proud to be participating in the Portland Art Museum's Miller Family Free Day: Exploring Architecture, Building Community, Sunday, August 20. This event is presented in conjunction with the special exhibition Quest for Beauty: The Architecture, Landscapes, and Collections of John Yeon.

Join us for a fascinating selection of interactive events throughout the day, which will encourage visitors to reflect on Portland's built environment, and the possibilities for accesssible and affordable housing offered by the POD Initiative, a community-wide effort led by the PSU School of Architecture's Center for Public Interest Design.

Visitors on August 20 will see the construction of an entire sleeping pod, designed by SERA Architects, on site at the museum. Through a technology developed by Maslow CNC, the "PlyPAD" will become a complete structure right before our eyes.

Also on the schedule for the day are interactive activities with the Village Coalition and POD Initiative, "Stories of Houselessness," a panel discussion with members of the Village Coalition Speakers Bureau, and a family tour of Quest for Beauty: The Architecture, Landscapes, and Collections of John Yeon.

To learn more about this effort, read the guest blog post by the Center for Public Interest Design's senior research associate Todd Ferry on the Portland Art Museum's website.

This event is free.
