Lakindra is a graduate of the PhD and MSW programs. She began teaching as an adjunct instructor in 2015. In 2018, she accepted an appointment as an instructor teaching in the BSW and MSW programs. In 2019 she accepted a position as full-time tenure track faculty. 


Children’s mental health; child abuse and neglect; child welfare; pediatric health care; African American children and familes; community and youth organizing; child advocacy; community-based practice; racial equity and social justice in school-based settings; culturally-specific consultation.

Cultural needs of African American children in foster care; racial & ethnic identity development; adolescent development; youth mentoring; community-based mental health; racial equity and social justice; addressing disparities among communities of color; experiences of first-generation and underrepresented students in higher education; community-based research; Qualitative inquiry; culturally responsive research methodologies; culturally responsive pedagogy.
