Karen has been a teacher for 17 years, teaching EFL to students of all ages. Since 2014, she has worked with English for people over 50 at a private institution in Brazil. There, she has worked as a teacher, coordinator and currently as a educational manager. She has also been co-author, revisor and editorial manager of a team that produces a collection of EFL audiobooks for people over 50. 

Research Interests

Inclusion; decolonization of language studies; cognition; the challenges of the aging process in a liquid society; intergenerational relationships; cross-generational dialectics; cross-cultural dialectics; Brazilian Indigenous Peoples.

Current Projects

Karen is currently a student at FACED-UFRGS (Faculty of Education-Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil), pursuing a Masters degree in Work, Education and Social Movements. She is a graduate student working with Dr. Johannes Doll (UFRGS) in various projects in Social Gerontology, including Debt amongst Elderly populations in Brazil and a research on Suicide causes amongst Elderly People in Brazil. She manages a language school and an editorial team in a private institution in Brazil. Karen is also an affiliate at PSU, working with Dr. Paula Carder.
