New and Improved Resources for Evacuation Assistance

The Accessibility Committee, Environmental Health and Safety, and Emergency Management have recently collaborated to enhance PSU’s evacuation assistance capabilities.

The Accessibility Committee recently purchased an evacuation chair. The chair is stored in the Campus Public Safety Office (CPSO) response vehicle and CPSO officers have been trained to use it. In the event of an emergency requiring a building evacuation, the chair is available for use by first responders to assist people who cannot use the stairs to evacuate on their own. During a building evacuation, if you or someone you know needs assistance, let a first responder know or call CPSO Dispatch (503-725-4404).

PSU’s Assistant Director of Emergency Management, Emma Stocker, has worked with members of the Accessibility Committee and Office of Information Technology (OIT), to overhaul the Evacuation Assistance Registry in Banweb. The Registry, which is open to all current PSU students, faculty, and staff, now has a dedicated registration page and those who register will be asked to confirm their registration annually.
