The School of Film is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2019-2020 Koerner Camera Systems Scholarship, Emma Chitwood and Spencer Rutledge.

In its fifth year, the scholarship is given each year to students enrolled in the Film Major who are interested in cinematography. We are also pleased to announce that Koerner Camera Systems has renewed their support for the School of Film by extending the scholarship funding for another five years!

Emma Chitwood

This scholarship has given me the opportunity to more fully focus on my academics. The money provided to me allows me to work less, and in turn I am able to take more film classes and learn more about the film industry. As well, I can become a more well-rounded person by studying other fields, such as women’s studies, journalism, and history. When I graduate college, I aim to secure a job for myself in the film industry. While I am not positive about what exact position I want to fill in this field, I am working diligently to acquire a wide variety of skills. I want to learn as much as I can while in college, so that I can be the best person and employee possible.

Spencer Rutledge:

The Koerner Camera Systems scholarship means that I can focus more on completing my degree without having to worry about the financial burdens of college. I value the Koerner Camera Systems scholarship because it allows me to put more time and energy into learning and improving as an artist and as a person. My professional goals are to become a videographer and this scholarship allows me to spend more time improving my videography skills and get real-world experience instead of having to work several jobs in order to pay for college.
