Team Oregon at ISEF

Kevin Ellis and Yale Fan, two Catlin Gabel students, won the second highest honors available to individual projects at the 2010 Intel ISEF in San Jose, California, this May. Ellis, with a project in computer science, and Fan, with a project in physics, each won the Intel Foundation Young Scientist Award of $50,000.

Team Oregon included 41 students presenting 27 projects at Intel ISEF. They were selected from the 891 high school students who participated in the Northwest Science Expo System.

Team Oregon won 22 Grand Awards and 28 Special Awards. Eighteen out of 27, or 67% of Team OR projects received Special Awards or Grand Awards. No state did better! Team OR brought home an accumulated total of $498,350.

Award winners represent every fair in the Northwest Science Expo System that sent participants to Intel ISEF. Five fairs in the system sent projects that received First Place Grand Awards.
