Alumni in the News: Aubrey Vaughn follows father into family’s accounting business

Aubrey Vaughn '11 of Reedsport was issued her license to practice as a certified public accountant by the Oregon Board of Accountancy on Dec. 10. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in accounting from Portland State University in December 2011, Aubrey joined her father Chris Vaughn at his practice in Reedsport.

Aubrey was born and raised in Reedsport, attending local schools until her graduation from Reedsport High School in 2006. She was the salutatorian of her graduating class. Aubrey participated in Reedsport sports programs, primarily swimming and golf while growing up. In high school she was a four-year varsity letterman in cross country, swimming and golf. She is the only three-time individual state champion swimmer in RHS history (50 and 100 freestyle in 2003 and 100 freestyle in 2005). She also was a member of the 2003 state champion girls golf team along with her sister, Emily. She then went on to play golf on scholarship for the Portland State University women’s golf team which won the 2007, 2008 and 2010 Big Sky Conference championship.

Aubrey’s grandfather, Gaylord Vaughn, opened the Vaughn CPA firm in Reedsport in 1952 and was succeeded by her father Chris in 1981.
