Our four-term course of study is for graduates who have received a Bachelor's in Social Work degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, through its International Social Work Degree Recognition and Evaluation Services (or covered under a memorandum of understanding with international social work accreditors).
The course of study for Advanced Standing students includes 46 credit hours of advanced curriculum and can only be completed in the Portland Option. Admitted students will complete an intensive orientation seminar and 144-hour field placement in the summer prior to beginning the advanced MSW curriculum in the fall.
Advanced Standing is available to individuals who have:
- a BSW degree from a CSWE accredited program;
- a BSW degree within 5 years of admission to the MSW program;
- a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above in BSW coursework;
- preference given to applicants with 2000 hours of human service experience at time of application. These hours can be gained through paid employment, internships, and/or volunteer work.
