What: Portland State University's Friends of English presents "How to Write a Novel in Your Spare Time," a workshop with New York Times-bestselling author Phillip Margolin, author of three books of short stories and 13 novels, including Gone, but Not Forgotten, Ties that Bind, and his 2008 release, Executive Privilege. This fun, practical workshop will cover time management, careful and relevant research and working with agents and editors.

When: Thursday, May 29, 2008, at 7 p.m.

Where: Smith Memorial Student Union, room 238 (1825 SW Broadway).

Cost: Admission is free to PSU students, faculty and staff; $5 suggested donation for community members.
