David Layzell has been teaching at PSU since 2003 while still working for Intel Corporation from which he retired in February 2007. In the 26 years with Intel he held a number of Senior Finance roles and more recently headed up their Business Ethics Program.
David is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds a Masters degree in European Economics from Exeter University in England. He is an alumni of INSEAD's extended Management Program in Fontainebleau and has done graduate work at the City University of Dublin in Ireland.
In addition to teaching, David is hoping that the work with the Center for Professionalism Integrity and Accountability will help to bridge the communications gap between the Academy, Corporate thinking and the public perceptions of Corporations.
David is a confirmed free market capitalist who believes that for free markets to operate in a way true to their values the Institutions of Capitalism need to be constantly questioned and tested by the society in which they operate. He believes that all citizens need to hold themselves accountable to do this questioning in a good faith supportive way.
He has made the long journey from UK native, to be a US citizen with an Irish born wife and two Oregonian children. His personal mantra is: Let's be successful, happy AND save Western Democratic Capitalism
