On Monday June 11, 2012, at approximately 10:20 a.m. Portland Police Bureau responded to a PSU Campus Public Safety call for assistance in responding to a suspect who drew and pointed a gun at a CPSO Officer in the vicinity of 12th and SW Market St. The suspect fled into PSU parking structure 3 and the PPB Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) was called to the scene to manage a search and secure the area.

Both vehicle and pedestrian traffic was shut down during the operation. In addition, the Helen Gordon Child Development Center located next to the parking structure was locked down along with Lincoln and St Mary's High Schools.

At this time, the suspect, David W. Chilton, is still at large and considered armed and dangerous. Call 911 immediately if you see him. He is in his 50’s with grey hair and beard, blue eyes, and last seen wearing a dark jacket, rust colored plaid shirt over a green T-shirt, black shoes, grey baseball cap, North Face backpack, and a gym bag. Portland Police Bureau and Campus Public Safety are continuing to monitor the situation. Campus operations, including academic finals remain on schedule.
