The Portland State University Black Studies Department and the Library Special Collections staff are teaming up to host a reception honoring the recently donated Verdell Burdine and Otto G. Rutherford Family Collection.
The scores of artifacts, photographs, and memorabilia saved for decades by Northeast Portland's Verdell Rutherford document the lives of four generations of African-Americans in Portland.
The reception will be held Nov. 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Millar Library, 1875 S.W. Park Avenue.
The event will include refreshments and remarks by Charlotte Rutherford, Professor Darrell Millner and Professor Patricia Schechter. A portion of the collection is on display in the library. Please RSVP by Nov. 2: email@example.com.
