Join Campus Rec for our newest health promotion program, Winter of Wellbeing! This entirely virtual program is designed to help you build a foundation of wellbeing through a variety of methods selected to support happiness, fulfillment, community, purpose, and more. Receive a weekly email about a specific dimension of wellbeing, along with why it matters and a list of activities to support it. You'll have a chance to win prizes by submitting an optional weekly survey sharing the wellbeing activity that you practice each week.

Winter of Wellbeing is free and open to the entire PSU community; no Campus Rec membership required. You can join at any time during the eight-week program.

Physical Wellbeing [Jan. 11-15]

  • Taking care of the physical body. Exercise, movement, nutrition, and sleep
  • Walking challenge, Group X Classes, Mindful Eating, Sleep Meditations & Stretching

Emotional Wellbeing [Jan. 18-22]

  • The ability to understand yourself and acknowledge your feelings in a productive manner. Coping with challenges.
  • Emotional wellbeing across the world, Mindful Meanderings, MindSpa

Occupational Wellbeing [Jan. 25-29]

  • Fulfillment and satisfaction in your job or career. Finding harmony in work and life.
  • Networking for introverts webinar, time management, sign up for handshake

Intellectual Wellbeing [Feb. 1-5]

  • Creativity, critical thinking, and exploring new knowledge, ideas, and experiences.
  • Mini student conference, Sex & Chocolate Event, WHAT Podcast

Social Wellbeing [Feb. 8-12]

  • Having healthy relationships. Feeling connected to other people. Improving knowledge and actions around equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Game night, How to be a Good Ancestor Podcast, Anatomy of Trust

Financial Wellbeing [Feb. 15-19]

  • Living within your financial means and planning for future financial health. Practicing budgeting and resource management.
  • Tax tips, connect with a financial wellness coach

Environmental Wellbeing [Feb. 22-26]

  • Practicing a lifestyle that respects nature. Recognizing your ability to impact your environment.
  • Learn how to use a field guide, sustainability tips, houseplants to survive the winter

Spiritual Wellbeing [March 1-5]

  • Finding a sense of purpose and meaning in life, determining your values, and matching actions to morals.
  • Spring equinox ritual, gratitude practice

Sign up in person at the Outdoor Program office. Registration deadline & pre-trip meeting: Wednesday, 4/21 at 6 p.m. Difficulty level: Easy Caminando y hablando means walking and speaking in Spanish. This 5.5-mile trip features a walk through the southwest part of the city, followed by a hike to the summit of Council Crest Park. The theme of the trip is the Spanish language! Fluent Spanish speakers pueden charlar (can chat) along the way, and everyone will learn a Spanish vocabulary list of things we encounter on our trip. We will go through the list of words as we come across them on the walk, and will spend time practicing the words in a natural context. Registration deadline & pre-trip meeting: Wednesday, 4/28 at 6 p.m. Difficulty level: Easy Spring is here! Join the Outdoor Program on a hike to our local Marquam Nature Park, teeming with spring greens and new growth. We will depart from the PSU campus, hiking into the nature park to enjoy views of the city and wildlife. But wait, there’s more! This trip is the perfect opportunity to channel your inner artist. While we are out, we will take time to do some sketching and make some art. Bring your favorite sketchbook and pencils if you have them, or use materials provided by the Outdoor Program. All levels of artists and hikers are welcome to join us on this creative outdoor adventure. Imagine human foosball without the poles! Small goals, no goalies, face masks, and players restricted to their zone to maintain physical distancing. Create a team or register as a free agent and be placed on a team with other free agents. This is a great way to be active and meet new people in a safe and fun environment. Registration deadline & pre-trip meeting: Wednesday, 5/5 at 6 p.m. Difficulty level: Moderate Explore the beautiful, forested hills just west of the PSU campus on this 7.5-mile hike. Explore the International Rose Test Garden, which is home to over 10,000 beautifully manicured plants. Further along the trail, discover  thousands of native, global, and endangered tree species at Hoyt Arboretum. Spring in Portland is one of the best times to learn about trees and wander through nature, taking in the beauty of the sweet-smelling blossoms that so many of our fruit trees grow this time of year.
