ACE Group Fitness Instructor Training

Learn the strategies needed to teach safe and effective group exercise classes. The class is designed to prepare you to take the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Group Fitness Certification Exam and teach Group X classes for Campus Rec. Cost includes exam fee, textbook, study guide, practice exam and all instruction. Academic credit is available if interested.

ACE Personal Training Course

Theoretical and practical material offered through the American Council on Exercise will prepare you to become a certified personal trainer. Topics covered include anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, health screening, fitness assessment, program planning and progression, injury prevention, and special populations. Academic credit is available; exam fee and book are included.

Workplace CPR/AED/FA

The purpose of the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies.  The courses in this program teach skills that participants need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly ill or injured person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.

Bloodborne Pathogen Training

This course is designed for those who risk on-the-job exposure to blood and other bodily fluids, and to understand how Blood Born pathogens are spread.  Students will learn how to avoid exposure and what to do if exposed to infectious materials, including cleanup procedures. The course is one of the requirement of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard.

Lifeguard Instructor Course

This course teaching participants how to teach the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course. The course includes:  Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, BBP and Oxygen Administration. Participants must be able to pass the LG, CPR and First Aid written exams and demonstrate all required skills in order to participate in this course.

Lifeguard Course

The primary purpose of the Red Cross Lifeguarding program is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to emergencies and to provide care for injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel arrive and take over.

Water Safety Instructor Course

The WSI course prepares you to teach American Red Cross swimming and water safety courses.

Wilderness First Responder Course 

Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the definitive course in medical training for outdoor educators, guides, SAR team members, and others who work or play in remote areas. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical, including all of the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments. This 9 day course is provided by the NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute; those who successfully complete the course will receive a WFR certification valid for two years.
