Thursday, May 12, 2011 - 7:00pm

The Portland Center for Public Humanities presents a lecture by Ed Cohen:

Human Tendencies

Ed Cohen (Women's and Gender Studies, Rutgers University) will explore how "being human" has come to mean belonging to the human species, and what the political, medical, and cultural implications of this redefinition are. Professor Cohen's intellectual and pedagogical interests include gender studies, social studies of science and medicine, nineteenth-century studies, and lesbian and gay studies. He has written extensively on the history of the formations of male genders and sexualities.
