In support of university student success efforts, the former Peer Tutoring and Learning Center has a new name: the Learning Center. The new Learning Center realigns curricular and peer-to-peer learning programs to better serve students.
Housed within the Academic & Career Services alignment in Student Affairs, the new Learning Center encompasses the best of the programs under the former Peer Tutoring and Learning Center and combines those with the Academic Support Program. The Learning Center thus includes College Success courses, Roads to Success, peer tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, Chiron Studies, and content-specific workshops.
Welcome Lisa Hatfield as the Learning Center's new director and Liane O'Banion as its Assistant Director. Nicholas Rhodes has just joined the team as the office specialist. Hatfield had been the coordinator of the Peer Tutoring and Learning Center, and O'Banion had been an academic adviser and the program coordinator of the Academic Support Program. O'Banion will continue to assist with advising through the beginning of winter term.
The Center is located in SMSU 439. Visit online at https://www.pdx.edu/tutoring/.
