Oregon Welsh Festival Chorus at Culture Wars. Other Voices in British Literature
Oregon Welsh Festival Chorus at Culture Wars. Other Voices in British Literature

The mission of the Oregon Welsh Festival Chorus (OWFC) is to promote Welsh music and the annual Gymanfa Ganu (Welsh hymn singing festival) at Bryn Seion Welsh Church in Beavercreek, OR.  This relatively young ensemble has received acclaim in its short existence. Spreading enthusiasm for Welsh language and culture, OWFC is the first Portland-based ensemble since the early 20th century to perform music primarily in the Welsh language. The chorus was originally formed in the Spring of 2013 for the 78th annual Gymanfa at Bryn Seion Welsh Church, which is held on the 4th Sunday of June every year.  It has now become available to sing at a variety of events.  OWFC is sponsored by Bryn Seion and the Welsh Society of Portland, with additional support from Kenilworth Presbyterian Church.

On October 4th, they will perform at the event "Culture Wars. Other Voices in British Literature: Should 'Welsh Writing in English' be taught as a separate course or module in U.S. Universities?" at the Portland Center for Public Humanities at Portland State University.
