Dear Campus Community,

Portland State supports the U.S. Supreme Court ruling Monday that employers cannot discriminate against gay, bisexual and transgender workers, extending workplace protections to millions of Americans.

This landmark Supreme Court ruling comes as we celebrate Pride Month. This year, a nationwide effort seeks to remind Americans of the intersectionality of the Pride movement and Black civil rights. Pride grew out of several days of protests and demonstrations that were sparked by a violent 1969 police raid of the Stonewall Inn, a New York City bar popular with the Black and Latino LGBTQ community. Our campus honors the legacy of Pride and stands in solidarity with contemporary movements that work toward the end of all violence towards oppressed communities, including LGBTQ, Black, Indigenous and other People of Color communities.

PSU supports and celebrates our LGBTQ employees and students.

Sincerely,

Stephen Percy
President
