TEACHING ASSISTANTSHIPS

The Department of Physics is able to offer and support teaching assistantships, which include a stipend of approximately $6000 per term as well as tuition remission. The number of assistantships is limited and they are awarded competitively, so it is not possible to guarantee that all students accepted into our graduate programs will receive funding.

Admitted students who have been offered an assistantship should be aware that continuation in this arrangement is dependent on their performance as teaching assistant and is therefore not guaranteed. Throughout the duration of an assistantship a student must be registered for at least nine graduate-level credits each term and must maintain a minimum 3.00 GPA each term. Teaching assistants are required to show satisfactory academic progress.

Successful applicants will be notified of the availability for assistantship at the time they receive a letter of offer to their program. Please note that even if an offer of assistantship is not extended at that time it does not mean that the availability of this opportunity will not change in the future.
