Portland State University will merge its fundraising office of University Advancement into the PSU Foundation, an independent not-for-profit corporation.
A task force of Foundation and university representatives recommended the consolidation and both President Wim Wiewel’s executive committee and the Foundation’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved it.
“Beyond budgetary advantages, this merger will bolster an already strong alliance between the two organizations and be a major step in positioning PSU for a successful comprehensive fundraising campaign and enhanced advocacy for the university,” says Wiewel.
PSU Vice President for Advancement Françoise Aylmer will also become president and chief executive officer of the Foundation. “Françoise has proven experience in the field and will be able to maintain our momentum in significantly increasing fundraising,” says Jon Mitchell, chair of the Foundation.
Fred Granum, current Foundation president and chief executive officer, will step down to pursue other opportunities. “Fred has provided excellent leadership and I very much appreciate his support of this organizational change and of PSU,” says Wiewel.
An Implementation Committee will develop further details and the merger will take effect July 1. “This exciting initiative will allow us to deepen our culture of philanthropy and transform PSU,” says Aylmer.
