EXPO UT 2014

The Universidad Tecnologica de los Valles Centrales de Oaxaca, Mexico, popularly known as the UT, will present EXPO UT 2014 to the Portland State community on April 15th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Native American Center. Faculty and staff from the UT, a new public university emphasizing sustainability, alternative technologies, and community development will highlight programs and opportunities of interest to PSU. Although a new university the UT has already hosted Portland State students on exchanges, research projects, and with teaching assignments. Located in San Pablo Huixtepec less than an hour from the capital city of Oaxaca de Juarez, the UT offers hands-on experience and learning in fields ranging from marketing and gastronomy to renewable energy and community engagement. The UT rector (president), Julian Luna Santiago, will be on hand to discuss faculty-led programs, collaborative research, and joint courses.

EXPO UT 2014 includes specific exhibits and presentations by faculty and staff on different aspects of university life, academic programs, and the regional environment. Portland State University has a substantial and highly-visible presence in Oaxaca, and EXPO UT 2014 will provide an orientation as to how more students and faculty can take advantage of established relationships or create new options for professional and personal development.

EXPO UT 2014 is a cooperative effort of the Universidad Tecnologica de los Valles Centrales de Oaxaca, Portland State’s mini-internationalization grant program, the Native American Center, and the Mark Hatfield School of Government in the College of Urban and Public Affairs.
