Print Quotas Overview

Printing at Portland State University is controlled by printing quotas. All students, employees, and Affiliate Odin accounts are allocated 500 credits per term. The quota does not carry over to subsequent academic terms and resets at the beginning of each term. Users are responsible for keeping track of their quota.

For more information on how to check your credit quota, visit Checking Your Print Quota.

Student Accounts

When a student account reaches the 500 credit quota limit, they will still be able to print. However, the account will be billed at the end of the term for the additional printing. The total credits used for each type of print job are below, along with their costs.

Type of Print: 8.5” x 11” Number of Credits Used Total Cost
Single-sided, black and white 1 credit $0.06 (6 cents)
Double-sided, black and white 2 credits $0.12 (12 cents)
Single-sided, color 4 credits $0.24 (24 cents)
Double-sided, color 8 credits $0.48 (48 cents)
Type of Print: 11” x 17” Number of Credits Used Total Cost
Single-sided, black and white 2 credits $0.12 (12 cents)
Double-sided, black and white 4 credits $0.24 (24 cents)
Single-sided, color 8 credits $0.48 (48 cents)
Double-sided, color 16 credits $0.96 (96 cents)

Employee Accounts

While PSU employees also have a 500 credit quota, the process for adding additional credits is different. Once an employee reaches 500 credits, they will not be able to continue printing until they pay for additional credits. These can be added to Employee accounts in increments of 200 credits for $10.00. Contact the Integrated Digital Support Center (IDSC) for more information.

Note:

  • If an employee is also a student, the printing system will treat their account like a student’s and bill them for any excessive printing after the term is over.
  • University employees can avoid being billed for printing in the labs by using their department printers, or asking their department to pay for lab printing should they exceed their quota.

Affiliate Odin Accounts

Affiliate Odin accounts are created for users who need access to PSU computing resources, but are not enrolled students or regular faculty/staff. For information on creating an Affiliate account, see Non-Standard Odin Accounts.

Users with Affiliate accounts also have a 500 credit quota, but the process for adding additional credits is different. Once an Affiliate account reaches 500 credits, they will not be able to continue printing until they pay for additional credits. These can be added to Affiliate accounts in increments of 100 credits for $10.00. Contact the Integrated Digital Support Center (IDSC) for more information.
