Election/Campaign Law for Public Employees

Oregon Revised Statute 260.432 places restrictions on political campaigning by public employees. Portland State University faculty and staff are “public employees”, and thus are subject to the restrictions of ORS 260.432. Generally, ORS 260.432 states that a public employee may not, while on the job, promote or oppose elections, petitions, candidates, political committees or ballot measures. Additionally, no person may require a public employee, at any time, to do so. The following links provide further information on restrictions and allowable activities:
