Information and resources in support of today’s tragic incident

We are saddened to inform you about a serious incident on campus this morning.

A vehicle struck pedestrians walking on the sidewalk near SW 6th Ave. and SW Montgomery St. on the PSU campus. Three pedestrians who were injured are hospitalized. The names of the victims have not been released. Portland Police are leading the investigating and CPSO is coordinating with them closely. PSU's campus remains open, except for areas closed by police for the investigation. 

The Office of the Dean of Student Life and Center for Student Health and Counseling (SHAC) and Human Resources would like to offer support for students, faculty and staff who may have been impacted by this incident. 

  • SHAC has a team of mental health professionals available to provide confidential services to any student, faculty, or staff seeking support related to this incident. Services can be accessed by calling 503-725-2800 or by visiting SHAC during regular business hours. More information is available at www.pdx.edu/shac/. During evenings and weekends, people can call the Multnomah County Mental Health Call Center, 503-988-4888.

     
  • For employees, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers crisis counseling and up to three counseling sessions face-to-face, over the phone or online.   • The PSU C.A.R.E.Team/Dean of Student Life Office helps coordinate support services for students in distress and those needing assistance in navigating university resources.
