posted on Friday, Dec 4 2015 by Lisa Molinelli

On Wednesday, December 16th, Blackboard Collaborate will be updated to its new Ultra Experience. Blackboard has completely reworked the Collaborate platform to run in-browser. This means you can:

  • Join sessions quickly. You no longer need to install Java or a launcher to access sessions. Now you and your students can quickly join browser-based sessions with ease!
  • Enjoy a modern aesthetic. A new sleek and intuitive interface provides a clutter-free experience.
  • Focus on learning. The easy to use interface allows you to focus on learning, not how to use the software!

  • Develop material for an online or “flipped” course
  • Conduct a mock interview (and post in an LMS for peer feedback)
  • Create a video introduction to a course

We are very pleased to introduce you to our new Teaching, Learning, and Engagement Associate, Jennifer Alkezweeny! She was kind enough to write a post for our blog.

Learn more about Jennifer in her own words below!

Philosophy

I subscribe to the philosophy of the world is what you make of it. This “you make” is all about engagement. Engagement with communities, learning, individuals, concepts, reflection, and self.  Since 2002, I’ve been supporting faculty and building programs to do just that for students. Often, education is viewed as a means to an end, a process wherein at the end, students are prepared to be citizens. As if somehow the switch is off until the graduations caps fly into the air and then they can begin to engage. I was drawn back to PSU (I’m a Communication MS Alumni...

posted on Monday, Jun 1 2015 by Lisa Molinelli

We are proud to announce that as of June 15, everyone at Portland State will have access to a new streaming media server, called Media Space (located at media.pdx.edu). Media Space is like a YouTube for PSU users, but with more options for sharing and collaborating with students and colleagues.
