From April 11-13, a delegation from Thailand participated in a training workshop hosted by PSU’s Center for Public Service (CPS) and First Stop Portland. The delegation studied city management under the “Smart City” concept, the management of the Light Rail System in the city of Portland, transit-oriented development, public-private partnerships, and transit systems as an aspect of placemaking. They studied Portland's efforts to learn about effective land use planning as they work to finance and construct the first light rail system in Thailand outside of Bangkok.

The delegation was led by Dr. Peerasit Kamnuansilpa, Founding Dean and Advisor to the Dean on International Cooperation and Research, the College of Local Administration, Khon Kaen University (COLA KKU) and Mr. Suradech Taweesaengsakunthai, Interim Associate Dean at the College of Local Administration and Founder of the Khon Kaen Think Tank (KKTT). The workshop was attended by 16 KKTT co-founders.

This activity is part of a cooperative project between the COLA KKU and PSU’s College of Urban and Public Affairs (CUPA).
