PSU’s Office of Academic Affairs has named Becky Sanchez, Director of Undergraduate Business Career & Academic Services winner of the 2016 Mary H. Cumpston Award for Service to Students. Becky will receive her award at the faculty luncheon on the day of commencement ceremonies June 12, 2016.

The Cumpston Award for Service to Students is given annually to an academic professional or unranked University administrator who has demonstrated excellence in the area of service to students. This year the award committee was inspired by Becky Sanchez and her quality of work as well as her commitment to student services.

Becky has been employed at the School of Business Administration’s (SBA) Undergraduate Programs Office since 2003. For thirteen years she has focused on student success first as a front desk receptionist, then as a professional advisor and career counselor, and now as Director of the office. In her current role, Becky works on institutional initiatives that move students toward graduation.

Becky led the launch of four new mentorship programs, helped redesign the tuition remission allocation, led a cross-campus initiative focusing on students with excessive credit, assisted the introduction of the Fearless Fridays and SBA Passport to Success initiatives, just to name a few of her projects.

“Becky has the ability to touch student lives at macro and micro levels and she does it so effectively and with passion. I expect that in 20 years, PSU will be seeking nominations for the Becky Sanchez Award for Service to the University Community,” said Erica Wagner, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Business Programs.

We are proud of Becky and want to thank her for her dedication and contributions to the undergraduate education.
