Two works of art on campus are among the country's best in 2010, according to Americans for the Arts, the leading national professional arts service organization. Art professor Harrell Fletcher's mural, "The Knowledge" (pictured here), and a video projection on the glass façade of the Academic Student Recreation Center were among 47 outstanding public artworks selected from 400 nominations by the arts organization.

"The Knowledge" looms large at Southwest Fifth Avenue between Hall and College streets. A poll of faculty, staff, and students determined which PSU Library books to use in the mural. The other winning art titled "Intellectual Ecosystem"-on the plaza side of the Recreation Center-was produced and directed by local artist Fernanda D'Agostino. Ann Gooley Mai, PSU Facilities services manager, oversees public art installation on campus. "Ann deserves significant credit for this national recognition," said Facilities Director Robyn Pierce.
