Discovering new directions for improving indoor air quality

Indoor air quality and building science specialist Elliott Gall joined PSU in summer 2016 as an assistant professor of mechanical and materials engineering and became the new director of PSU’s Green Building Research Lab.

Launched in 2008 with funding from the Institute for Sustainable Solutions and OregonBEST, the lab provides a space where university researchers can work in close collaboration with industry partners to address research needs of the green building industry.

Gall is quickly making his mark at PSU as an active collaborator. Current work involves collaborating with urban ecology professor Olyssa Starry and biology professor Todd Rosenstiel to investigate the effects of ecoroofs on indoor air quality, and bringing an engineering perspective to the undergraduate cohort of interdisciplinary Green Building Scholars in PSU’s School of Architecture.
