Dr. Lindberg is an Assistant Professor in the Criminology & Criminal Justice Department. She earned her Ph.D. in Urban Studies in 1996 from Portland State University's School of Urban and Public Affairs, with concentrations in Policy Analysis and Urban Social Patterns and Human Development. Dr. Lindberg also holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education and has more than 20 years of experience working with at-risk youths, including eight years with the Oregon Department of Corrections Education System. Before joining the faculty of Criminology & Criminal Justice in 2006, Dr. Lindberg held a faculty appointment at Radford University in Virginia.

Dr. Lindberg’s teaching interests lie in prison conditions and the relationships between difficulties with school and difficulties with the law. Dr. Lindberg has also pioneered innovative instructional models for teaching large numbers of online students in small learning communities to produce meaningful policy-related products for criminal justice agency partners. In CCJ, Dr. Lindberg teaches courses related to crime theory, ethics and leadership in criminal justice, juvenile offenders, and the CCJO senior capstone, and coordinates the internship program for the CCJO program.
