Posted: March 27, 2008
A team of six PSU graduate students presented their proposal for "The Yale Blocks,"
a two-block site in Seattle's South Lake Union neighborhood as part of the NAIOP
Pacific Northwest Real Estate Challenge. The students' proposal called for the development of 679 apartment units, built over 163,000 square feet of retail, creating a community retail center built around pedestrian-friendly alleys. Their innovative proposal included using a modular housing product developed by Unico Properties and an efficient
multi-block parking structure. Details of the proposal can be found at:

The PSU team included Brad Smith, Courtney Koehler, Kerry Hughes, Matt Stein, Pat
Monaghan, and Staci Beck - all students within PSU's Graduate Certificate program in Real Estate Development. Congratulations to the team and to Professor Will Macht, Associate Director of the Center for Real Estate, who supervised the NAIOP Workshop team. Special thanks to the Oregon chapter of NAIOP, as well as the chapters in the Puget Sound and Vancouver, British Columbia, for their support for the NAIOP Challenge.
