PSU Summer Commencement, Aug 16

What: More than 550 students will participate in Portland State University's 2008 summer commencement ceremony; representing the more than 4,500 undergraduate and graduate students receiving degrees for the 2007-08 academic year. The commencement address will be delivered by Michael Reardon, PSU interim president.

When: Saturday, August 16, 2008, at 11 a.m.

Where: Portland State University South Park Blocks between Smith Memorial Student Union and the Simon Benson House, rain or shine.

Cost: The event is free and open to the public; seating is provided and available first-come, first serve. Spectators are also welcome to bring folding chairs or blankets. Parking will be available in Parking Structure 1 (1872 SW Broadway) and Parking Structure III (1631 SW 12th Avenue) for a fee of $4.

Summer commencement is a shorter, less formal event than the spring ceremony. Graduates have the option of wearing a cap and gown, and tickets are not required.

The summer commencement address will be the last formal address delivered by Michael Reardon as interim president. At the end of August, Wim Wiewel will officially start as Portland State's eighth university president.
