Monday, April 9th, 2018

The Middle East Studies Center is proud to co-sponsor with the Portland State Harold Schnitzer Family in Judaic Studies to continue our monthly lecture series. This April, Dr. Halamish will present "The Role of the Holocaust in the Establishment of Israel," which will explore the political and historical background of Israel and its connection to the Holocaust.

Dr. Halamish is a professor from Open University in Israel and she will explore many questions regarding Israel's establishment in 1948, including: Is there a link between the Holocaust and the establishment of Israel? Who promotes this claim? What really happened and how did the Holocaust impact the process of establishing a Jewish state in Palestine?

This lecture is made possible with the 2018 Lorry I. Lokey Program and sponsorships with the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education and the Portland State Harold Schnitzer Family Program in Judaic Studies.
