Dr. Friedrich Schuler

Friedrich E. Schuler, Ph.D received his Ph.D. in History from the University of Chicago, his M.A. in Latin American from the University of Texas at Austin with a focus on study and research in Chile and Mexico, and his B.A. in History from the  Free University of West-Berlin. He is the author of two books and several journal articles. Dr. Schuler was the recipient of the Michael C. Meyer Book Award Outstanding Book on Mexico 2001, and was the co-recipient of the 2000 State of Oregon, Community Development Award Oregon with the Latin American Trade Council of Oregon, awarded by Governor Kitzhaber. Other Grants Dr. Schuler has received in include the National Endowment of the Humanities Research Grant for College Professors, Social Science Research Council Scholar, Fulbright Scholar, Fulbright Hayes Scholar, German Academic Exchange Service Grant, and participated in Language Study in Spain. Dr. Schuler is currently a Professor of History and International Relations, Portland State University.
