Corporate Governance Perspectives

Thursday, March 6, 2014

In today's business environment, the practice of corporate governance has become more important than ever. This talk will explore what corporate governance means today, and how firms can use it to create value.

We will explore governance from several different perspectives:

  • Public company governance and private company governance
  • External governance and internal governance
  • Academic perspectives and real world experiences

The discussion will be a fusion of these topics, looking at best practices for governance going forward. Topics such as regulation, compensation and "doing the right thing" will also be discussed from a variety of stakeholder interests.

  • Rick Miller - Chair, The Avamere Group; Co-Founder, Rogue Venture Partners
  • Dudley Slater - Vice Chairman, Integra Telecom; Independent Director, Umpqua Bank and WOW Cable & Internet
  • Lindsay Stewart - former Vice President and Chief of Staff, Nike, Inc.
  • Brian Bolton, Ph.D. - Assistant Professor of Finance, PSU School of Business Administration
