Meet Heather Todd

After graduating from PSU, Heather switched gears from linguistics and worked for some years doing restoration ecology in Yosemite National Park. At the same time, she took linguistics classes at U.C. Berkeley and U.C. Santa Barbara. Her interests in the interconnection of language, culture, and traditional ecological knowledge led her to a masters in Ethnobotany from the University of Kent, where she did research in rural Cameroon on the relationship between language endangerment and ethnobotanical knowledge. She is now pursuing a PhD in Field Linguistics at SOAS, University of London. She continues research in Cameroon, focusing now on multilingualism and lexical variation within the domain of ethnobiology.
