Academic Testing Services

DID YOU KNOW?
Academic Testing Services (ATS) has never had to turn away an on-time student or instructor request due to lack of capacity.

“The involvement of Testing Services has been incredibly helpful for us and our students!”
“Thank you so much for your help over this past term. The proctors we had were so great and really made the testing process smooth and easy for our students.”

Our Mission

PSU Academic Testing Services (ATS), a part of Student Success within Academic Affairs, provides academic accessible, equitable learning assessment and test proctoring support for PSU students and their instructors. We are committed to maintaining accessibility, integrity, and professionalism throughout all aspects of the test administration process. We prioritize accommodated exams for students registered with the Disability Resource Center (DRC), and we operate in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

"You go above and beyond to support our students and it's more than appreciated." — via email

"You have been incredibly gracious during this process... Thanks again for your kindness and hard work. You're amazing." — via email

Spring 2024 Term

Accommodated Exam Proctoring for Students Registered with the DRC

We strongly encourage faculty and students to connect at the start of each term and to submit all exam support requests to Academic Testing Services for the entire term by the end of Week 1, or as soon after that as possible.

Final Exams: All requests for Final Exams must be submitted no later than 11:59 PM on Wednesday, May, 29th, 2024. Please be sure to submit your exam request(s) by then if you'll need our support for one or more final exams. The further in advance you can submit these, the better.

All Other Exams: Support requests for all other exams (other than Finals) must be submitted at least 7 business days before the desired exam appointment date due to the communication and coordination necessary among students, faculty, proctors, the DRC, and so forth. The further in advance you can submit these, the better.

Please do not request an exception to this as it is what allows us to serve everyone who needs our services.

Please note that Academic Testing Services (ATS) is not part of the Disability Resource Center, and we are no longer part of SHAC (as of 2020). ATS is part of Academic Affairs, under the purview of Student Success.

IMPORTANT: Given that we operate out of multiple locations, all in-person visits — including to pick up completed exams — are by appointment only. Send an email to TestingServices@pdx.edu if you would like to schedule an appointment.

"I very much appreciate your flexibility and support..." — via email, November 2023

"Well, this could not be a more lovely response... We will figure it all out as we go and I sure appreciate your kind collegiality as we do that!" — via email, October 2023

Make-Up Exams for Non-DRC Registered Students

Starting Spring 2024, in an effort to expand our support for faculty, PSU Academic Testing Services has resumed offering limited support for make-up exams for non-DRC registered students. This was discontinued during the heart of the pandemic and we have been keen to resume it as soon as operationally possible. This is now offered on a capacity basis as we must continue to prioritize support for DRC-registered students and their instructors.

If you have any questions, please send an email to: TestingServices@pdx.edu

Fragrance-Free Environment

PSU is a fragrance-free environment, and this includes Academic Testing Services. Please refrain from using scented personal care, laundry, and cleaning products. Thank you for your consideration of others in providing an environment in which every person on campus can feel safe and comfortable. Review more in the PSU Fragrance Free Value Statement.

Your Health is Important to Us

At Academic Testing Services, the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff are our top priority. If you are experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms on the day of your appointment with us, please contact us right away so that we can work with you and your instructor to reschedule your exam.

While masks are not required, they are welcome, especially in indoor spaces like our Adaptive Testing Suite (formerly known as our Testing Center) and other testing rooms. Masks are always available upon request, and are an important tool for stopping the spread of viruses.
