Transportation from the Airport


Upon arrival at PDX airport in Portland, you have the following transportation options to get to PSU:

Free transportation

Friends of Overseas Citizens and University Students (FOCUS) can provide new PSU international students with a free ride from the Portland airport to locations on or near the PSU campus when you first arrive. Reservations must be made at least one week before arrival. If you are arriving with family members, be sure to include family information in your reservation. It may be difficult to schedule FOCUS volunteers during the following holiday times:

 - Memorial Day Weekend (Friday-Monday, the last Monday in May
 - Independence Day (July 4)
 - Labor Day Weekend (Friday-Monday, the first Monday in September)
 - Thanksgiving Day (the fourth Thursday in November)
 - Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (December 24 and 25)
 - New Year's Eve and New Year's Day (December 31and January 1) 

Public Transportation

TriMet is Portland's public transportation system. TriMet consists of bus, MAX Train, Street Car, and WES Commuter  Rail. To find out more about TriMet, please click here.

The MAX Red Line light rail service runs from the airport to downtown every 15 minutes and costs $2.50. To get to PSU, take the MAX Red Line to the Rose Quarter MAX Station.  You can the change to a MAX Yellow Line or Green Line train at the Rose Quarter MAX Station and either one will take you right to PSU (which is the last stop).

The entire trip takes approximately 45 minutes.

Blue Star Shuttle to Portland Downtown

The Blue Star Shuttle is the only shuttle to downtown Portland and Lloyd Center. It leaves PDX every 30 minutes to hotels in Lloyd Center and downtown Portland. The cost is $14 each way or $24 roundtrip per person. See the Blue Star Shuttle website for detailed schedule of stops and contact information.

Taxi Cab

Hiring a taxi is your fastest and most expensive option. Taxis are always available at the airport and will charge about $40 for a ride to PSU. The ride will take 20-40 minutes.
