Program Coordinator, US-Vietnam

Erik Mandell joined the Center for Public Service as the Program Coordinator focusing on U.S.-Vietnam initiatives in November of 2014.  Erik received his Master’s in Public Administration with a concentration in Global Leadership and Management from Portland State University in June of 2014. 

Prior to joining CPS, Erik was the Program Coordinator for PSU’s MEPI (Middle Eastern Partnership Initiative) Student Leaders Program, funded through a U.S. Department of State grant.  He has pursued international academic and professional experience in New Zealand, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Mexico, Vietnam, Cambodia and Uganda, as well as extensive personal travel to all 50 states and 50-plus countries. During the fall of 2012, he served as the Hatfield School and Public Administration department intern in Hanoi and Hoi An, Vietnam, where he worked with United Nations agencies and provincial and local governments, in partnership with PSU, on a variety of sustainable development and leadership development partnerships. Erik has also held internships for the international NGO Mercy Corps in both its Portland Headquarters office and in Uganda.

Originally from New England, Erik enjoys exploring the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest in his free time. He enjoys opportunities to hike, camp, ski, sample Portland’s diverse cuisine, and travel internationally whenever possible.
