Yury Kutsurenko

Name: Yury Kutsurenko

Major: Mechanical Engineering, Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science

Hometown: Saint Petersburg, Russia

Favorite Class at PSU: My favorite was my 3D printing class where I got to use 3D scanners and printers. I scanned my head and shoulders and printed my bust on the 3D printer, which I now have on my desk. It’s pretty cool.

Where I Lived While Attending PSU: Beaverton, Ore.

My Favorite Food Cart: I love Phat Cart — they’ve now moved into a permanent space — on SW College between 4th and 5th. Their Hawaiian bento is my favorite.

My Favorite Study Spot on Campus: My favorite spot to study or kill time between classes is the Millar Library, but actually I prefer to study at home because I am easily distracted.

While Attending PSU I Was Also… Doing four different internships while I was in school. That delayed my graduation but I don’t regret it a bit because employers expect you to get work experience before you graduate.

My Favorite Thing to Do On Campus Outside of Class: I like grabbing a bite to eat. During spring and summer I get food and find a quiet spot in the Park Blocks under the trees.

How I Paid for School: I paid for school mostly by working and taking on student loans. When I started at PSU I received a Pell Grant which partially covered tuition.

My Plan After Graduation: I’m currently working as a manufacturing engineering intern at Intel and work on 5G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth technologies. I hope to get a full-time engineering position after I graduate.

My Advice to Future PSU Students: Get relevant work experience while you are in school. It may take you longer to graduate, but it’s worth it.
