Transfer Students

From Community College to PSU in Three Steps

Did you know that more than 60 percent of PSU undergraduates transfer from community colleges?

PSU works with community colleges across the region to make the transfer process smooth and seamless. Many community college credits are directly transferable to Portland State.

By starting at a community college, students can get their lower division requirements out of the way and save money on their path to a degree. Take 30 transferable credits at a community college, including a required freshman writing class, earn a minimum 2.25 College GPA and you're on your way to becoming a PSU student.

Then it comes to three simple steps:

Visit campus and meet with a transfer advisor. It's a great way to learn about the University and to see how your community college credits will translate to PSU.

Apply for admission. It's never too soon - in fact, a year in advance is a good idea.

Apply for financial aid and scholarships as soon as you can.
