PSU soars with zero gravity research
For six weeks this fall, a team led by PSU engineering professor Mark Weislogel conducted an experiment on the International Space Station.
And they did it without leaving the ground.
Astronauts set up the experiment, but the rest of the work—manipulating the equipment and gathering data—was conducted from the PSU campus by Weislogel and his team. The goal: to see how liquids in specially shaped conduits behave in zero gravity. The information they found may change the way fuel systems are designed for the next generation of spacecraft.
