Thursday, June 6, 2019 - 10:00am to Thursday, June 6, 2019 - 12:00pm

Add a powerful tool to organize and maximize your use of your academic writing references: a citation management system.

Special three-hour Jumpstart workshop on how to not only use but maximize your use of a citation management system like Zotero. In collaboration with Michael Bowman, library faculty, Dannelle Stevens will demonstrate how to use a citation management system, like Zotero, to effectively and efficiently manage your citations. During this special three-hour workshop, you will..

Download a citation management system onto your laptop

Use the citation management system (CMS) to instantly create an accurate reference list

Organize your references

Learn three different ways to get your references quickly into Zotero

Take notes on your references for easy access

Create files and tag your notes on your references for quick retrieval by key words

Write out the argument for your current manuscript and add your citations from the CMS to strengthen your argument.

If you are a collaborator, learn about the group feature where you can share, update and add references to a common file

By having more literature at your fingertips through the use of a CMS, you will save lots of time (!!!), present a more persuasive and comprehensive argument for your work because your notes are so easily accessible and are organized into files!

This workshop is also for those who want to polish their skills in using any citation management system, especially Zotero which has some very powerful features. Michael is an expert in Zotero, Endnote and Mendeley. We will have presentation time but also hands-on time to start setting up your CMS for more efficient access and effective use. Bring your laptop!
