Non-degree Application and Registration

Non-Degree Applicant

Apply for Non-Degree Entry if you:

  • plan to enroll in 8 or fewer credits per term or 21 credits in summer term,
  • do not plan to pursue a degree from Portland State University,
  • do not plan to receive financial aid, and
  • have never attended PSU or submitted a non-degree application

Non-Degree Entry gives you limited registration access to PSU classes. All credits you receive are fully accredited and transferable to PSU and institutions that accept PSU credits. If you are unsure if Non-Degree Entry is right for you, please speak with an Admissions Representative by contacting the Office of Admissions. If you previously submitted a non-degree entry form, your non-degree status is continuous and you can register for classes.

Applying for Non-Degree Entry is quick and easy.

Apply Online

  1. Go to Portland State University's online application system and create a login and password. (Remember to write down your info so you can access your application later.)
  2. Select ONE of the Non-Degree options from the drop down menu: Non-Degree Undergraduate 
  3. With your application you must submit a non-refundable $25 application fee; you will be required to pay this via Visa or MasterCard. A $2.00 processing fee will apply. 
  4. Keep your browser window open after you submit to view your welcome message, including your PSU ID number.

Paper Application

  1. Download and print a Non-Degree Entry form.
  2. Submit the paper form, along with the non-refundable $25 processing fee, to the Office of Admissions.
  3. As soon as the form is processed (usually within three business days of submission), we'll send you an email with the information you need to register for classes.

Senior Citizen Applicant

Senior Citizens may audit any of Portland State's regular courses on a space-available basis and pay no tuition! Some course fees may apply. Please review procedures for the Senior Adult Learning Center.

To apply as a Senior Citizen you must:

  • be an Oregon resident
  • be 65 years of age or older 
  • not be seeking a degree
  • not be seeking credit for courses

Re-Enroll Student

If you:

  • were previously admitted to Portland State
  • attended Portland State subsequent to your admission
  • have been absent for 2 or more terms
  • attended another college or university since leaving Portland State

Complete the online Re-Enrollment Request Form

Information provided via your request will assist the Registrar's Office in providing you a smooth transition back into courses here at Portland State University. We will review your account and be sure to email you in 4-5 business days with the following information:

  • Student account login refresher.
  • Academic standing.
  • Registration status and dates of registration.
  • Information about how to get in contact with your adviser.
  • Outstanding registration requirements and/or holds.

If you attended another college or university during your absence from Portland State, you are REQUIRED to submit updated official transcripts to PSU at:

Register for a course in the Social Innovation Certificate 

Enter Student ID or ODIN Username and Password.

First-time users of the portal need to synchronize their Portland State computer accounts, or create an initial account, using OAM (Odin Account Manager). Navigate to the Registration Menu Select the "Student Services and Financial Aid" link, then select "Registration". 

Update student information if appropriate, then click on "Continue to Registration Menu". Note: This step only occurs the first time each term that you log into the PSU Information System. Choose Courses 

To search for courses, select "Look-up Classes to Add". The search feature allows students to look for courses according to subject, course number, title, credit hours, part of term, instructor, attribute type, start and end times, and days of the week. Choose one parameter -- or several -- then click on the "Class Search" button. 

Select courses using the check box on the left side of the search results screen, then click on either "Register" or "Add to Worksheet" at the bottom of the page. Proceed to add classes using this procedure, or use the "Add/Drop Classes" link from the main Registration Menu. If a waitlist appears after submitting a course to add, select Waitlist from the drop-down menu and resubmit the course. 

When finished adding/dropping courses and/or making other changes, click on the "Please click here to complete your registration" link at the bottom of the page. Students who fail to perform this crucial step are not registered. 

Students view their completed registration/class schedule by selecting "Student Schedule Detail" or "Student Schedule by Day and Time" links from the main Registration Menu. Log Out 

Exit the PSU Information System by clicking "Exit" near the top right-hand corner of the page. If using a shared computer, close the browser application to ensure privacy of personal data.
