RAPS 2011-2012 Scholarship Recipient Update

I graduated in 2015 with my Urban Studies Ph.D. and the field areas of Community Development and Gerontology after years of working with PSU's Institute on Aging. I also received my Gerontology graduate certificate. I taught a few classes at PSU focusing on communities and health from 2015-2016, and I was offered a tenure-track position at Western Oregon University (WOU) as Assistant Professor of Gerontology beginning September 2016. I am thrilled to be working there among a fantastic group in the Behavioral Sciences Division. WOU is the oldest public university in Oregon and offers the only Bachelors of Gerontology in the state. We have a growing program with around 35 majors, as well as some minors and post-Bac students. Our Gerontology Student Group and their Kappa Eta Omega host some fantastic campus events such as film screenings and Careers in Aging Week which, just last month, included a presentation by the Honorable Barbara Roberts! Additionally, I am continuing my research on senior centers, which was the focus of my dissertation research.
