MARCH 16, 2020 - RESIDENT SURVEY + REDUCED STAFFING
As the COVID-19 outbreak and nationwide response changes rapidly, we want to communicate some important information to you and also learn of your own plans.
University Housing & Residence Life needs to survey residents so we can effectively make plans for campus services and support. Please fill out this form so we know if you will be heading home or staying in your home here on campus while we have remote classes. [form is now closed and has been omitted] The form is a requirement of being a campus resident. Please respond as soon as possible or by Wednesday, March 18, 2020 by noon at the latest.
We encourage you to go home if you live locally or close enough to campus during the time that classes are offered by PSU online. This will help reduce the density of our on campus population and place a smaller load on our on call services, which will be reduced.
Due to the need to practice social distancing, we are reducing staff presence throughout the halls to essential services only. This means that the normal RA on Call program will be suspended. You will still have access to that number and a professional staff person will respond during the normal RA on Call hours. However, due to the limitations of staff at this time, we ask you to please make use of this service for serious issues only. You can also access Campus Public Safety for help any time. Also, Campus Public Safety has agreed to be more present and do more rounds in the residence halls during this time.
And finally, due to a reduction in staff and the need to limit physical exposure, our Main Office will be closed. You can still connect with us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We recognize this is a serious situation and are here to serve you as best we can. Together we can make it through this time.
Good luck on finals!
Executive Director of Housing and Residence Life
