nwccc1.gifPORTLAND, OR The Portland State University (PSU) Cycling Club is pleased to announce that Jeremy Robbins will be racing his handcycle in the Northwest Collegiate Cycling Conference (NWCCC) during the 2009 season. Jeremy Robbins will be the only handcycle racer in the NWCCC, which consists of 22 universities and colleges from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.

Jeremy raced bicycles from 1994 – 1996 in California, where he represented University of California, Santa Barbara. In 1999 Jeremy became quadriplegic when he broke his neck in a mountain biking accident in Portland, Oregon. In 2005 Jeremy returned to the world of cycling on a handcycle, and reported that he finds "It to be challenging and inspirational, while reminding [him] that [he] really loves 'cycles', both bike and hand."

Jeremy is a graduate student in rehabilitation counseling, and an intern at the disability resource center at PSU. He will represent PSU in the time trial section of several NWCCC collegiate road races this season. Jeremy said "My hope in joining the PSU team is to bring awareness of the sport, that campus recreation is open to all, and of disability in general to a larger population, while having some fun in the process."

The first NWCCC Omnium be hosted by Oregon State University and University of Oregon and will take place March 21st and 22nd near Eugene, Oregon. Please see for more information.

The Portland State NWCCC Omnium will be April 4th and 5th. Please see for more information.
