Call for Papers


The organizers invite papers on any aspect of the Ancient Mediterranean World, including Greece, Rome, and the Ancient Near East. Papers that are likely to be of broad interest and make connections among the different elements of the ancient world are especially welcome, as are papers that focus on pedagogical topics. 

Abstracts of no more than 300 words for presentations of no more than 20 minutes must be submitted by email to capn2017@pdx.edu by January 22, 2017. All abstracts will be judged anonymously, and responses will be sent by mid-February.

All events will occur in the Smith Memorial Student Union (SMSU) located at 1825 SW Broadway, Portland, Oregon

 97201.

Campus Parking:

Parking is free in Parking Structure One on Saturday and after 7 pm on Friday.

Lodging: A block of 15 rooms has been reserved at the University Place Hotel adjacent to PSU’s campus. Please make your registration by MARCH 6th, 2017  and use the room block name CAPN17 to receive the discounted conference rate. Details below.

Since the hotel is walkable to PSU’s main campus, [Interactive Campus Map] there will be no shuttle from the hotel to the conference facility. The next closest hotel, although more expensive, is the Hotel Modera.
