PSU Internationalization Mingrants Support Middle East Studies

The Middle East Studies Center received two awards from the Portland State University Internationalization Mini-grant program.

One mini-grant will support two screenings at the Center's March 2013 film series, 'Recycling in the Middle East', presented as part of the year-long series, Youth in the Middle East and co-sponsored with the Portland State University Institute for Sustainable Solutions.

A second award will support the workshop, Minorities in the Modern Middle East, April 26-27, 2013.

The Internationalization Mini-grant program furthers one of the goal's of President Wim Wiewel's Internationalization Initiative and the Internationalization Council: To increase opportunities for Portland State University faculty, academic professionals and staff to incorporate international dimensions into their teaching, scholarly agendas, programs and professional development.

The Middle East Studies Center at Portland State University promotes understanding of the people, cultures, languages and religions of the Middle East. As a National Resource Center for Middle East Studies under the U.S. Department of Education's Title VI program, the Center serves as a resource on issues pertaining to the Middle East through activities that reach students and scholars, as well as businesses, educators, and the media. The Middle East Studies Center supports academic conferences, workshops, cultural events, lectures, and a resource library. | | 503-725-4074
